Letter to West Linn

Dear West Linn Community Member,

Thank you for visiting my website for my mayoral campaign. It has been an honor to serve my hometown community for the last two years as Councilor, Council President and now interim Mayor. I am eager to continue my public service as Mayor for the next couple of years, and I am asking for your vote. Though much has been accomplished by our Council over the last two years, there is still a lot of important work to be done and significant challenges facing our City that I hope to address.

We must continue to fight against ODOT’s unfair tolling plan that seeks to place tolls in West Linn’s section of 205 prior to the rest of the Portland Metro Area. As part of the ongoing I-205 project, a solution is needed to fund the expensive water line replacement on the Abernethy Bridge — I have been advocating for funding with our state and federal lawmakers. I also will work to address the long term stability of our water system in the face of increasing maintenance costs. Additionally, important projects such as the renovation of Historic City Hall, the Waterfront Project and a revitalization of Highway 43 are hanging in the balance that I will move forward. Inclusivity, civility, public safety and livability remain bedrock values for me in my public service. We need level-headed and experienced leadership to continue to advocate for us, and I bring that style of leadership to the table.

I want to continue to create an environment where citizens feel heard and our City government continues to work for us all toward a better future. I am a product of this community having graduated from West Linn High School in 2018 and I love this community. Let’s continue to make our City a great place to live!

I would be honored to have your vote.

Rory
